This page explains what information ClassicMerc.com collects when you visit, why, who else gets it, and what choices you have. I’m Arthur. I run this Mercedes R107 site from the Chicago area. When this policy says “I,” “me,” or “my,” it means me. Privacy questions: info@classicmerc.com.
The short version
You can read everything on this site without giving me your name or email. I use Google Analytics 4 (through Google Site Kit) to see which pages are useful. The site may show ads from Google AdSense once approved; Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure those ads. Some links are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, I may earn a small commission. If you email me, I get the details you send and use them only to reply. I don’t sell your information for money. Some ad cookies may still count as “selling” or “sharing” under certain US state laws, and you can opt out (see below).
Information I collect
Information you give me
Email and contact: If you email me or use a contact form, I get your email address and whatever you write in the message. Please don’t send passwords, payment details or other sensitive credentials.
Comments: Public comments are turned off. If I turn them back on later, a comment would collect the name, email and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help catch spam.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, this one and the services it uses automatically receive technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the page you came from, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. My web host (Bluehost / Newfold Digital) keeps server logs with this information. Google receives similar information through analytics and, when enabled, advertising code.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. This site and its vendors may use them to:
- Keep the site and WordPress admin working (for signed-in users)
- Measure traffic with Google Analytics 4 (cookie names often start with
_ga) - Show and measure ads when Google AdSense is active
- Support embedded content such as YouTube when you choose to play a video
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work; ads may be less relevant and analytics less complete.
Analytics: Google Analytics 4
I use Google Analytics 4 via Google Site Kit (measurement ID G-P45CG2B8LY) to understand which guides people read. Google may process IP addresses and device/browser data under its own terms. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics opt-out.
Advertising: Google AdSense
ClassicMerc.com plans to use Google AdSense (publisher ID pub-1863363113810469). When ads are displayed, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org. Visitors in the EU can also use www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you will still see ads; they just won’t be based on your browsing history.

Amazon Associates
Some posts include Amazon affiliate links. If you buy after clicking, Amazon may tell me that a purchase was made so a commission can be paid. See the Affiliate Disclosure. Amazon’s own privacy practices apply when you are on Amazon’s sites.
Website hosting
The site uses WordPress on Bluehost hosting. Hosting services process technical information needed to deliver pages. Bluehost’s provider explains its practices in the Newfold Digital Privacy Center.
Embedded content
Where a page offers a YouTube video, choosing to play it loads content from YouTube. Third-party embedded content can collect technical information, use cookies and associate activity with an account you are signed into.
Retention and requests
Server and analytics logs are kept according to the host’s and Google’s retention settings. Emails you send me are kept as long as needed to handle your request. You can email info@classicmerc.com to ask what personal information I hold about you, to correct it, or to ask that I delete what I control. Some records (hosting logs, Google accounts) are controlled by those providers; I’ll point you to them when that’s the case.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
